Now lets add some spice. You can now work almost exclusively on the color layer. What you want to do now is do some graduations from one color to your flat color or vice-versa. If you use the magic wand, you can select by color, if you use the lasso tool you can draw out your selections. Get your gradient tool which will be a small rectangle that goes from white to black. In Photoshop 6, if your paint bucket is showing, click the arrow next to it and a box will come out that will let you select the gradient tool. Now on your tool bar above you should see a rectangle with a graduated color. If you click that you will get a box that will let you choose the colors you want to graduate. Just click on the lock at the bottom of the rectangle on either side, then if you move the cursor to your art it changes to the color picker. You can pick the color from your art and then pick the lock form the opposite end of the rectangle and pick a color to graduate to. At the bottom you see the finished art, the before and after. Notice too that I put in a gradient background which I did on the background layer and notice the lettering which I added a filter to.
